Philanthropist Minal Bajaj Extends Support To Kochi Muziris Biennale

Renowned philanthropist Minal Bajaj, Trustee and Honorary Director of the Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation (JBF) since 2009, has extended her support to the upcoming sixth edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale (KMB) as a Platinum Patron.

Welcoming her support for the Biennale, Bose Krishnamachari, President of KMB, said,

“Mrs Minal Bajaj’s generosity reaffirms our belief in the KMB as a shared space for

upholding artistic exchange, education and cultural legacies”.

Minal, who has been actively heading various activities of JBF, securing high-calibre

nominations and raising the profile of Jamnalal Bajaj Awards, said, “The JBF, under its

initiative, Bajaj Beyond, is delighted to support the sixth edition of Kochi-Muziris Biennale,

strengthening its focus on cultural revival, heritage conservation, and community

empowerment, upholding Gandhian values of social uplift and artistic growth of Jamnalal

Bajaj”.

“Our support for KMB stems from the belief in the power of art to inspire, educate, and

unite people, enriching society and fostering a lasting appreciation for cultural excellence.

May this celebration of contemporary art, cultural memory and shared humanity inspire all

those who walk through Kochi's historic streets,” she added.

In 2012, Minal founded Hamaara Sapna, an NGO in Mumbai, to uplift illiterate and home-

bound women, strengthen their self-confidence, and equip them with relevant skills, such

as tailoring Khadi materials, learning English, getting trained in yoga, self-defence and

computers, and promoting self-reliance and swadeshi, the ideals of the Bajaj family. She

encourages the women to treat Hamaara Sapna Centres as their maika (mother’s home).

Minal’s commitment to support art and culture is reflected in her involvement in the

restoration of Dr Bhaudaji Lad Museum, India’s second-oldest museum. In recognition of

her work in different fields, she was bestowed the Anita Parikh Award for Empowerment of

Women by the Rotary Club of Bombay in 2019. Minal is associated with many organisations

in her philanthropic endeavours. She is a trustee of Kailash Satyarthi Children’s

Foundation, a Board of Advisory Member of Satyarthi Movement for Global Compassion, a

Drama Committee Member at National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA), and a Patron

Member of Women's Cancer Initiative at Tata Memorial Hospital. Minal is also in charge of

creating, directing and developing the Bajaj Family Archives titled `Bajaj Family Heritage’

with the involvement of professional archivists.
